Development of Western Balkans and the EU enlargement process

Stabilization, development and integration of the region are three key challenges for Europe. The EU should support the European path of the Western Balkans and contribute to the development of core European values in the region. In particular: liberty, democracy, rule of law, and fundamental human rights.

As a former Chair of the Interparliamentary Delegation for  South-Eastern European realtions and the current Chair of the Delegation to the EU-Serbia Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee I actively participate in the development of the relations of the European Parliament with the countries of the Western Balkans: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia, and specifically Serbia.

My goal is to facilitate progress in the EU integration of the region by enhancing cooperation and communication between the Western Balkans and the European Parliament. I strive to stimulate leaders from South-Eastern Europe to work dilligently on reforming and stabilizing the region. I believe that the future of the Western Balkans is in the European family.
